I fondly remember rumbling through my grandmother's closet whenever I went for a visit, always looking for wedding photos of her, her mother and others in her family. I would sit for hours admiring the bride and her following in their puffy dresses and the dashing groom and his following in black suits. I remember thinking back then that I would love to have a wedding like theirs.
Today, that is indeed possible. We can recreate the things about the past we love and add a modern twist to it. This is why we love the word Vintage so much. Its meaning differs from one person to the next, but in the end it still looks amazing.
From vintage wedding lace dresses, lace boleros and the ethereal loose, knotted or braided hair with a stunning brooch or hairpiece, you are guaranteed to look and feel stunning. That vintage touch just adds something to your wedding day which till this day I can not completely put into words. A single word I can come up with is *magical*.
Your choice of wedding invitations with a vintage touch is endless, just like the endless stream of ideas for the decoration of tables, place setting indicators and the photo booth. You can have a corner for everything, especially for desserts or the wedding cake. The exercise of decorating in true vintage style is also not necessarily a pricey one, seeing that a lot of the items can form part of your DIY projects for the wedding and you also have the comfort of having various suppliers who specialize in affordable vintage items.
We especially love the small personalized vintage items which makes for fantastic photo opportunities. One of those are the Hangers from the Desert Rose Project - a collaboration between Tendai (a wire artist) and Yolande Snyders Photography. In collaboration with local wire artist, Tendai, we came up with the following designs. Tendai is really talented and creates magnificent sculptures out of wire. His life size Madiba wire sculpture was the first thing that got me interested in meeting the artist. Tendai is always kind and ready for something new. I hope that the Desert Rose Project will help him reach new heights and enjoy a career as an artist as I am blessed to do my dream job. Now you do not have to use a plastic hanger to showcase your gorgeous gown. You can order a stunning design by contacting Yolande at yolande@ysp.co.za or 082 470 1918 or go and view the site www.ysp.co.za/desert-rose-project/

Have a fantastic vintage day!
Until next time.
The Great Gatsby is a 1925 novel written by American author F. Scott Fitzgerald that follows a cast of characters living in the fictional town of West Egg on prosperous Long Island in the summer of 1922.
Fitzgerald, inspired by the parties he had attended while visiting Long Island's north shore, began planning the novel in 1923 desiring to produce, in his words, "something new — something extraordinary and beautiful and simple and intricately patterned."
Since the now release of the film remake by Baz Luhrmann, we again fell in love with all things 1920's. We even went in search for our copy of the F.Scott Fitzgerald novel to soak up the intriguing and powerful story!
With this in mind, we decided to schedule a 1920's inspired photo shoot for our other business venture La Belle Vita Photography https://www.facebook.com/pages/La-Belle-Vita-Photography/165361776932899 and we are already in the planning stage to ensure that it will be a stunner!
The 1920's themed wedding is an elegant yet daring affair and is a definite to consider when you start making all the wedding plans. You can play with colours, flowers, crystal, pewter and silver, feathers, pearls and garlands and even add your own touch. Anything and everything goes! We love the variety!
Your dress can be all lace or satin with beading and glitter and you can round off your look with some elegant yet extravagant make-up, hair pieces and veils. Oh the possibilities are endless and the looks you can create plenty.
You can make use of lace gloves, pearls, hats and vintage shoes to compliment your look. This will be a day to remember.
For your reception you can use a jazz band to play all the clasics by composers such as Ben Bernie, Jimmie Rodgers, Duke Ellington and Louis Armstrong. Your guests will be on their feet all night.
As part of this post, we want to share the inspiration and movement with you. Happy planning!
